  1. Reminds me of an old description: “If brains were gunpowder, he wouldn’t have enough to blow his own nose.”

  2. Not like anybody fuckin told him what was goin on. All he knew was that some weird woman was messin with him and pretty much his only “friend” in the world, and he took steps to stop it. Maybe if someone said that she was Jakeskin and probably had a whole shitload of other Jakes outside waitin to cut you up if anything went wrong, maybe then he would have acted different. Knowin EJ though, that’s a pretty slim maybe.

    1. I agree. It’s not like his environment is one where no one ever tries to push others around. In fact, I’d be worried if his survival instinct wasn’t pushing back.

    2. I think the fact that Biggs (the arrogant, smack-talking asshole with the world’s biggest chip on his shoulder) was scared shitless ought to have been a big clue to be on your best behaviour.

      1. That’s a pretty significant clue, but EJ just hasn’t been listening. Now I find myself thinking about hornets chasing their victim, except hornets won’t be as intelligent and as ruthless as the Jakes will be. I’m glad I’m not in Biggs shoes.
