Chapter 5: Intermission, page 22.

This is your time to pay,
This is your judgement day,
We made a sacrifice,
And now we get to take your life.

We shoot without a gun,
We’ll take on anyone,
It’s really nothing new,
It’s just a thing we like to do.

Next up: Flashbacks, human tsunamis, accidental bravery and internal bleeding.

    1. Sunny has the same power cheesy action heroes and suicide bombers have–what a man is capable of when they feel they have nothing to lose.

“I’m not afraid of a man who wants nine nuclear warheads. I’m PETRIFIED of a man who only wants ONE.”–Dr. Julia Kelly (Nicole Kidman), THE PEACEMAKER

  1. Heh! I always had a soft spot for that Andrew WK song :-)

So psyched to see updates coming again! Can’t wait to see where the story goes next!

      1. Mmmmyeah. And the chorus? Not looking good for Sunny.

One of my favorites, by the bye. If I ran the world, it’d take the place of that damn Bocephus song on MNF.

  2. Wait, if Sunny is willing to walk into the lion’s den to get Gene, then he can’t be concerned enough for his own safety to feel he needs to hide out from the Jakes.

“Just him” must mean he’s interested only in getting Gene away from the family.

The question is, does this mean Sunny cares about what happens to the band without Gene, or actually cares about Gene’s welfare? (not that he’d necessarily admit to the latter)

  3. Updates!!! I’m so happy that there’s a not insignificant possibility I might be having a stroke. Lost so many awesome comics to economics/life/etc lately that having these unique characters back is just spectacular. Dying to know what’s up with Ben.

Spike these are great, just as gritty and emotive as ever.

  4. A thought occurs: he isn’t the only mentally unstable person headed in that general direction right now, is he? Unless my timeline is way off here, we’re shaping up to have Sunny, Bash, Pippi, both Elliots, and a whole clan of Jakes in the same place at once. And this is to say nothing of Ben’s as-yet unexplained neuroses or the random insanity of Templar itself…
